Abstract: | The use of synthetic fibers as reinforcement for composite material negative effect on the environment because the waste is difficult to decompose naturally and can be annoying to a few generations. It is necessary to look for a replacement fibers of synthetic fibers (fiber glass) but also natural fibers (natural fibers). Advantages of natural fiber that is able to decompose naturally into fibers that special (it is reneweble or renewable) in the manufacture of composite materials, while synthetic fibers are more difficult to unravel. Shortage of natural fibers including fiber sizes are not uniform and the age factor greatly affects fiber strength. In this study a combination of transverse and longitudinal arrangement of fibers in the manufacture of composite has a higher tensile strength when compared with the arrangement of transverse or longitudinal fibers. |
Description: | Pemakaian serat sintetis sebagai penguat untuk bahan komposit berpengaruh negatif pada lingkungan karena limbahnya sulit terurai secara alami dan dapat mengganggu hingga beberapa generasi. Untuk itu perlu dicari serat pengganti dari serat sintetis (fiber glass) tetapi juga serat alami (natural fiber). Kelebihan serat alami yang mampu terurai secara alami menjadi serat yang istimewa (sifatnya yang reneweble atau terbarukan) dalam pembuatan bahan komposit, sedangkan serat sintetis lebih sukar terurai. Kekurangan serat alami diantaranya ukuran serat yang tidak seragam dan faktor usia serat sangat mempengaruhi kekuatannya. Dalam penelitian ini kombinasi susunan serat melintang dan membujur pada pembuatan komposit mempunyai kekuatan tarik yang lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan susunan serat melintang atau membujur. |
