Abstract: iii ABSTRAK Permintaan bawang merah disumatera utara terus meningkat seiring dengan kebutuhan masyarakat yang terus meningkat karena adanya pertambahan jumlah penduduk. Jumlah ulangan 2. The demand for shallots in north sumatra continues to increase along with the increasing needs of the community due to the increase in population. This study aims to determine the effect durian rind biochar application and sugarcane compost on the growth and production of shallot ( Allium ascalonicum L.). This research method used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK), with 2 factors consisting of, namely: 1) The factor of giving durian skin biochar (notation B) with 4 treatment levels: B0 = without biochar ( 0 kg/plot), B1 = biochar 5 tons/ha (0.5 kg/plot), B2 = biochar 10 tons/ha (1 kg/plot), B3 = biochar 15 tons/ ha (1.5 kg/plot), and 2) Factors for giving bagasse compost (K notation) with 4 levels of treatment: K1 = no compost (0 kg/plot), K1 = compost 5 tons/ha (0, 5 kg/plot), K2 = compost 10 tons/ha (1 kg/ton), K3 = compost 15 tons/ha (1.5 kg/plot). Number of replications 2. The results of this study are : The administration of durian rind biochar gave a significant effect on the wet weight of tubers per plot plant and tuber dry weight per plot plant , but had no significant effect no other parameters. The addition of sugarcane compost had no significant effect on all observation parameters. The combination of giving durian rind biochar and sugarcane compost had a siginificant effect on plant height at the age of 4 and 5 MST, and significantly affected the number of leaves at the age of 3 MST, but had a very significant effect on plant height at 6 MST. But is no significant effect on other parameters.
