Group assignments were widely considered to be more effective than passive learning, but group assignments couldn’t be separated from social loafing behavior. Social Loafing was a decrease in individual motivation and effort when working in groups, and tends to contribute not optimally. One of the causes of Social Loafing behavior was personality. The personality theory used in this study was the Big Five. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in Social Loafing behavior in terms of the Big Five Personality of Psychology students at Medan Area University, with the assumption that Neuroticism had a higher level of social loafing than Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness. This research used quantitative research methods. Subjects were 64 people, with a sampling technique, namely Accidental Sampling. The measuring instrument used in this research was the Social Loafing scale and the TIPI (Ten Item Personality Inventory) scale. Data analysis was performed using SPSS with the One Way Anova technique. The results showed that there were significant differences in Social Loafing behavior (F = 9,284; Sig = 0.000 < 0.050) in terms of the Big Five Personalities, with Neuroticism has the highest mean (37.67) while Conscientiousness has the lowest mean (23,92).
