Abstract: Ketapang is one of the many medicinal plants that grows in Indonesia and has been used traditionally to treat various diseases such as skin diseases, breathing, digestive disorders and bacterial infections in the reproductive organs. Ketapang is known to contain medicinal compounds such as flavonoids, triterpenoids, tannins, alkaloids and steroids. Ketapang leaf extract is expected to inhibit the growth of Eschericia coli bacteria. The study was conducted experimentally with qualitative methods. Testing of Ketapang leaf extract against E. coli was done in vitro. The research data obtained were analyzed with Factorial Complete Randomized Design with 2 factors, namely location and extract concentration. The results showed that the extract of Ketapang leaves from Medan and Binjai with variations in extract concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% were known to be able to inhibit the growth of E.coli with varying inhibitory zone values. The largest clear zone diameter is found in extracts with a concentration of 50% from ketapang leaves from Medan City, while the ketapang leaves from Binjai City. The largest clear zone diameter is shown in extracts with a concentration of 100%.
Description: Ketapang merupakan salah satu tumbuhan obat yang banyak tumbuh di Indonesia dan telah digunakan secara tradisional untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit seperti penyakit kulit, pernafasan, gangguan saluran pencernaan dan infeksi bakteri pada organ reproduksi. Ketapang diketahui mengandung senyawa obat seperti flavonoid, triterpenoid, tanin, alkaloid dan steroid. ekstrak daun ketapang diharapkan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Eschericia coli. Penelitian dilakukan secara ekspermentak dengan meted kualitatif. Pengujian ekstrak daun Ketapang terhadap E. coli dilakukan secara in vitro. Data penelitian yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial dengan 2 faktor yaitu lokasi dan konsentrasi ekstrak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun Ketapang asal Medan dan Binjai dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100% diketahui mampu menghambat pertumbuhan E.coli dengan nilai zona hambat yang bervariasi. Diameter zona bening terbesar terdapat pada ekstrak dengan konsentrasi 50% asal daun ketapang dari Kota Medan, sedangkan daun ketapang asal Kota Binjai diameter zona bening terbesar ditunjukkan pada ekstrak dengan kosentrasi 100%.
