Title: Perlakuan Campuran antara Material Aspal dengan Plastik dan Pengaruhnya Terhadap Marshall Test

Abstract: One of the material additions in road pavement often conducted is plastic waste to improve the asphalt quality. The reason why plastic used as the material addition in asphalt pavement is because of the characteristics of plastic which are strong, flexible, and hard destroyed. Based on the fact, plastic also has a high softening point so it is hoped to be able to improve the hot asphalt mixture resistance to the influence of the temperature and elasticity. The LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) plastics were used in this study as the asphalt replacement material by the purpose of whether it is positive which can be applied in the roads of Indonesia and also be one of the plastic waste problems handling in Indonesia. There are two ways of the plastic addition to improving the asphalt quality, namely the first way is smelting the plastic then added to the hot asphalt, the second is without smelting the plastic (plastic chopped and put into the hot aggregate). The first way was used in this study. Before conducting the Marshall test and durability on the mixture, it was needed to prepare the materials and the materials tester. After the all met the standard, it was conducted the printing of testing means by asphalt level of 6.0% of the total mixture. The testing means were conducted in three variations namely using 100% of Asphalt, adding 4% of plastic, and using 6% of LDPE plastic which then pounded as many 2 times 75 (2 x 75). Then, the Marshall test result showed that the average stability without plastic added was 3690.555 kg and the average smelting was 3.053 mm. The 4% plastic added obtained the average stability of 4617.596 kg and the average smelting of 2.816 mm, whereas on 6% obtained the average stability of 4463.262 kg and the average smelting of 2.773 mm. After conducting the Marshall test, the result obtained that on plastic added type Low-Density Polyethylene by smelting the plastic of 4% and 6% can not be used to the AC – WC mixture.
Description: Bahan tambah dalam perkerasan jalan yang sering dilakukan salah satunya adalah limbah plastic untuk meningkatkan kualitas aspal. Alasan kenapa plastic dipakai sebagai bahan tambah perkerasan aspal adalah karna sifat karakteristik plastic yang kuat, fleksibel, dan sulit dihancurkan. Berdasarkan fakta juga, plastic memiliki titik lembek tinggi sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan ketahanan campuran beraspal panas terhadap pengaruh suhu dan elastisitas. Pada penelitian ini plastik LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) digunakan sebagai bahan tambah pengganti Aspal dengan tujuan apabila menunjukkan hal positif dapat digunakan di jalan Indonesia dan sekaligus menjadi salah satu solusi sampah plastik di Indonesia. Penambahan plastic untuk menaikkan mutu aspal ada 2 cara, yaitu cara pertama plastic dileburkan terlebih dahulu kemudian ditanbahkan ke aspal panas, cara kedua plastic tanpa dileburkan (plastik di cincang dan dimasukkan ke agregat panas). Dalam penelitian ini,cara yamg dipakai adalah cara pertama. Sebelum dilakukan pengujian Marshall dan durabilitas pada campuran dilakukan persiapan bahan dan pengujian materialnya, setelah semua memenuhi standart dilakukan pencetakan benda uji dengan kadar aspal 6,0% dari total campuran Benda uji tersebut dibuat dalam 3 variasi yaitu dengan menggunakan 100% Aspal, ditambah 4% plastik LDPE dan 6% plastik LDPE kemudian dilakukan penumbukan sebanyak 2 x 75. Hasil pengujian Marshall menunjukkan stabilitas rata – rata tanpa penambahan plastik sebesar 3690,555 kg dan pelelehan rata-rata 3,053 mm penambahan plastik sebanyak 4% menghasilkan stabilitas rata – rata 4617,596 kg dan pelelehan rata – rata 2,816 mm penambahan plastik sebanyak 6% menghasilkan stabilitas rata – rata 4463,262 kg dan pelelehan rata – rata 2,773 mm. Setelah dilakukaan pengujian Marshall di dapatkan hasil bahwa pada penambahan plastik jenis Low Density Poliethylene dengan cara peleburan plastic sebanyak 4% dan 6% tidak dapat digunakan untuk campuran AC – WC.
